Palm Beach Soil & Water Conservation District partners with Palm Beach County in the Agriculture Reserve
Land in western Palm Beach County was purchased with funds from a conservation lands bond and leased to growers for agricultural production. Palm Beach Soil & Water Conservation District works with the lessees to customize a three-year Best Management Practices (BMPs) plan based on the crop(s) grown.
The plan provides ongoing assurance that acceptable agricultural practices are conducted in the form of verified implementation of BMPs. The District monitors the area, known as the Ag Reserve, on a monthly basis to be sure the land is being cared for in a manner that meets the agricultural potential and the lease agreement, minimizing any impact to the land or offsite water quality.
