AFCD Conservation Areas
The state of Florida is divided up into 6 Conservation Areas, each with it's own Area Vice President, Area Deputy Vice President and Employees Association Coordinator. The Vice President and Deputy are members of the AFCD Board, though not Executive Members.
The Vice President and Deputy, with the support of the AFCD Executive Board, support and assist the efforts of the districts that fall within their jurisdiction.
Focusing Conservation Efforts
Many criteria are involved in the process of placing the Conservation Districts in their current Conservation Areas.
One of the most influential criteria is geographical location. Florida has a very diverse agricultural community whose bounderies often tend to be geographical in nature and these different agricultural areas share very diverse soil and water conservation challenges. By grouping districts together that share in the same agricultural and geological distinctions, the process of supporting the needs of the individual districts in each conservation area becomes more effective as a focused group support effort.
